Fun experience in the middle of mountains and stunning views

Going to Orheiul Vechi makes a good day trip from Chisinău. You can easily go there using a minibus. From Chisinău, take a minibus to Butuceni. In Butuceni, the visitors' centre for Orheiul Vechi is located. This is where you pay an admission of 20 MDL (March 2025). As of March 2025, the minibus from Chisinău to Butuceni departs at 10:20 and costs 41 MDL. In the afternoon, there are two buses from Butuceni back to Chisinău: one at 15:00 and another one at 16:30. The two obvious attractions in Orheiul Vechi are the Monastery of the Birth of Virgin Mary and the Old Orhei Cave Monastery Peștera. In addition to this, and if you like some hiking, there are also the Hermitage of the Governor Bosie and the Cave Monastery of the Burgrave Mășcăuți-Albu. The Hermitage of the Governor Bosie is easily accessible and about 10-15 minutes from the Monastery of the Birth of Virgin Mary. The path is signposted. The way to Cave Monastery of the Burgrave Mășcăuți-Albu is more difficult to find, tiring, and a bit dangerous. Once you get there, there is not much to be seen. If you have time for a short walk, the nicely renovated houses of the village are another thing to be seen.
This was my 2nd visit and I'm hugely impressed by the new development and security measures that have been put in place by the govt to make this historic venue a safe space for all visitors from around the world. That said, this is a truly wonderful place to visit if you love nature, history and culture all merged together🤗
